Training, Supervision & Consultations
I am available to offer training to individuals and teams to help improve their practices and procedures in their settings. The courses I can provide range from Safeguarding, Reporting to Court, Supervised Contact, Understanding Deprivation of Liberty, Completing Capacity Assessments, and beyond.
Please get in touch with me using the form on this site, and I will respond as soon as possible to discuss your needs and how I can assist you.
I am also available to provide Supervision sessions for Registered Managers, Responsible Individuals, or Independent Social Workers. Whether this is a one-off discussion on a particular topic, or to arrange ongoing monthly supervision.
I also offer Group Reflective Supervision for teams working in Residential or Supported Living Homes, as well as for groups of Social Workers and Independent Social Workers.

The training I have developed over the last ten years can be tailored to your exact needs and specific circumstances, covering all of the aspects of Deprivation of Liberty, including the differences between adults and children.
The training can be provided to social work teams, residential homes, foster carers, or anyone else involved in caring for children with complex needs or where there are significant safeguarding concerns. The training explains the legal basis for Deprivation of Liberty, the assessments which need to be completed, the Court Orders which can be applied for (including when different Orders are most appropriate), the reviewing process once an Order is granted, and how to develop an "exit plan" from the use of the Deprivations.
The training can be provided either in-person or remotely, and I also offer refresher courses to update your team on key changes since your last training was provided. The arena of Deprivation of Liberty changes rapidly and significantly, and my continued practice in the area enables me to stay up-to-date with these changes and the implications that professionals face when caring for children.
Please contact me using the form below, and we can discuss your specific needs and how I can best meet them for you.
Deprivation of Liberty Training

Capacity Assessment Training
In addition to completing Capacity Assessments myself, I am also available to provide training to you / your team on how to complete them. Whether you are a Local Authority team responsible for completing numerous capacity assessments or a residential home seeking a briefing on what to expect when one is being conducted, I am available to tailor my training to meet your specific needs.
For training on the completion of Assessments, this will include helpful hints and tips, practical examples and considerations of people who may require assessments, as well as exploring the legal requirements of assessments (to ensure there are no delays when making applications to the Court).
Capacity Assessments are a requirement when a person is Deprived of their Liberty (if they lack Capacity), and therefore these two courses are often combined to make a full day (or more) of training.
Consultations
In addition to providing training to increase knowledge in specific subjects, I am also able to offer consultations, where we can discuss a particular situation you are facing, and I can assist in overcoming the difficulties you encounter.
This can either be achieved through one-to-one consultations with a manager (such as a team manager or home manager, for example) or by meeting with the whole team to conduct reflective supervision and discuss the situation together.
Please get in touch with me to discuss your specific needs, and we can discuss how much this service costs, but it is typically charged at £50 per hour.

Supervision
Finally, I offer professional supervision to Independent Social Workers, Registered Managers, Responsible Individuals and any other professional within a Social Care setting.
Supervision can be regular monthly supervision to help you manage your ongoing work. Or it can be on an ad-hoc basis to discuss particularly challenging assessments/cases you are facing.
As part of this service, I can also proofread assessments and reports before you file them with the Court.
These can take place either in person or via video call. However, if a significant distance needs to be travelled, then I will need to charge for travel expenses. Otherwise, the sessions are charged at £50 per hour.
Proofreading of reports will vary depending on the report being read, but for a Parenting Assessment, I charge £75 (which includes as many revisions and discussions as required).
Any other assistance, especially for Independent Social Workers, such as drafting quotes or networking and finding work, can also be provided. Please contact me using the form below, and we can discuss your specific needs.
